Title: Bees in dog food
Post by: BeeUtee on July 08, 2014, 12:45:55 AM
My bees have recently been gathering in my dog's food dish. They are easily shoo-ed away, but my dog is terrified of them after being stung once this spring and will not go near his dish. Has this happened to anyone else? How was this solved?

Dry food?  If they are gathering the dust from the dry food, there may be a pollen dearth going on.  Some dry pollen substitute in an empty hive might help.  If they are on wet food, I would check to make sure they aren't yellow jackets... if they are in the water, you should set up a bucket full of water with a lot of sticks in it for ladders down into the water...

Thank you so much!! It is dry dog food, so I will definitely try the substitute. My dog will be as excited as I am to have this taken care of!
