Title: How long before a queen starts laying??
Post by: davidawbrown on July 09, 2014, 07:56:03 PM
So my queen left when I was on holiday,
Went on day 6.5 and found sealed cells and her gone.

She was clipped so she wont be bothering anybody!

But how long from sealing to laying?

I'm checking regularly and I'm a little concerned something went wrong??

Any one any suggestions/ideas?

Regards
Dave

I generally give a queen 2 weeks from the day she hatches before I look for eggs.  Sometimes it happens sooner.

Queen emerges about 8 days after the cell is first sealed. She then normally is mated and starts laying about 10-14 days after emerging. So, if your cell was just sealed, I'd say give her 3 weeks, if no eggs yet, giver her one more week as sometimes she gets delayed from weather or other reasons.

If you figure from Day 1 ( day the egg was laid) til she is laying eggs is around 29 days.
