Title: frame cleanup for storage
Post by: brolib on July 31, 2014, 09:21:22 AM
I'm really new at beekeeping and don't have the benefit of a mentor. This forum is my major source of information. Thank you. I started with 2 hives this spring and am pleased with the results. I have 7-8  gal. of strained honey ready for consumption. It wasn't practical for me to get extraction equipment so my method was uncap with a filet knife and scrape out the frame with a metal spatula. Now I have Pierco plastic foundation with a coating of honey. Should I give them a  hot or cold water rinse before air drying and stacking them with the super for storage?

I just put my frames in the beeyard and let the bees clean the foundations.
I then put the frames and foundation in the supers and stack them in a staggard stack to allow light and air in.
Wax moths do not like light.
