Title: termites
Post by: Mike770 on August 04, 2014, 03:53:00 PM
If I have a box (not in use) that some termites got it to should I throw out the boxes or will a large colony get rid of them?

Thanks
Mike

If its so old and rotten that termites are working on it...i wouldnt use it.  Be terriible to get 90lbs of bees and honey and have that fall apart on you if you were working with it.

Bake it in an oven or freeze it first
or just soak it in hot water

Mike,
Termites cannot survive unless the are connected to the colony. Also a termite nest cannot survive without access to water. If your hives are off the ground and if they do not have a protected route to your hives, you will be OK.
