Title: Help, my swarm won't move into the box
Post by: Nardi on August 12, 2014, 11:12:56 PM
Please help- my hive swarmed. I managed to get the swarm into a net ( the kind used to keep bugs off babies in a strller ), and had them walk up a sheet onto the front of a Nuc. The Bees would walk inside then come back out. I put a few drops of lemon grass oil and a sugar water feeder inside. The bees are now clustered on the front of the Nuc. I put the net over them for now. I'm thinking that I should try to find another box in the morning. Any other advice?
Thanks, Nardi

put a frame of young larvae and a frame of honey in the nuc. they will move in and cover the brood.

Thanks Shawee,
We've had heavy down pours since last night - hopefully it will stop rainning by morning. Even with the heavy rain the bees are still hanging on to the front of the box. I'll move some brood & honey in ASAP.
I enjoy your videos, and have learned alot from you and J.P.. Thanks to the videos, ( & those from others ) I can work my hives in shorts & tank top, although I did get popped 3 times while messing with the swarm.

Best, Nardi
