Welcome to Beemaster, Chester. What part of Florida are in? Bee sure to update your profile with your location.
Beekeeping is very local with major differences even just inside the state of Florida.

Welcome, Chester. Get acquainted with the folks at the Dadant branch in High Springs and the local bee club. There's good people at both who will help you out.

My wife and I go to the http://www.gainesvilleareabeeclub.com/blog/Gainesville Bee Club (http://www.gainesvilleareabeeclub.com/blog/Gainesville%20Bee%20Club) meetings.
We're down in High Springs, pretty close to you.
