Hello, I am new to this group. I have read tons of materials on bee keeping and am exited about getting started in the spring of 2015. I know that the real thing will be completely different than the knowledge I've obtained in the books. I live in Stone County Mississippi and would love to get in contact with a local bee keeper who wouldn't mind showing me what its like to go hands on with a hive.

When spring gets here a bunch of us usually hit Bud1's place for a hands on weekend in Noxubee county. Is that far from you?

Welcome. Last year I went to Bud's place as a first year beak. It's around Macon. I gain a wealth of knowledge with the hands on and just listening to the other beeks talk. I'd highly encourage it. He has a ton of hives and we'll probably be going through most all of them.
