Title: New Member - Thumb of Michigan
Post by: pyro-1955 on August 27, 2014, 04:05:17 PM
Live in the Thumb of Michigan, My wife and I just started keeping bees this year.  Hive appears to be doing very well.
Hope to get a small amount of honey from them this year, and to keep my bees alive thru the winter.

I don't know.....I got a swarm call today and a surprise.  What looked like a ball of bees at first turned out to be a colony of bees that had about 4 exposed combs build right on an open branch.  Totally exposed like those tropical bees make.  Maybe they're expecting a mild winter?  A sign?

Welcome Pyro.

Welcome pyro, you're fortunate, there's several cold weather beeks on board here. I'd be picking their brains too. You need to be getting them ready for winter soon - I'd imagine.
