Title: Checking in From MN
Post by: quilaho on September 04, 2014, 02:03:03 PM
Hello ... my name is Quintin. I live in the East Central region of Minnesota, USA, about 30 miles north of the Twin Cities. I'm just finishing up my second year of beekeeping. Year one did not go so well but it looks like my 2 restarted hives from this year are going into winter strong. So, hopefully next year I will have 2 honey producing hives to harvest and a bunch of splits to grow with.

My beekeeping methodologies are still in development. Primary goals are to be as natural and sustainable as is practical. Currently, I'm in the process of moving to foundationless frames and I'm planning / researching wintering in nucs. Once I've reached my sustainability goals, I would like to experiment with Warre and Perone hives and their low intervention methods.

Generally, I lurk more than I post so you may not see my name much.

I'm always looking to expand my local network so, if you live anywhere near Isanti, MN, feel free to PM me.
