Its terrible that someone died, but I wish they would get their facts straight.
800,000 bees in that colony eh?  Wish I could grow em that big!  😈. What will they come up with next?

It would help if the reporter would do some research and not just take the exterminator's word for it.  If there were 800,000 bees in one colony it needs to be in the Guiness book of world records... I'd say 120,000 would be about the max and that would probably be a two queen hive being manipulated for that purpose...

Remember, it is not about reporting the facts any more. It is how many people get you get to read/see your story.
We do not have Reporters any more, we have Sensationallist.
I'll bet they didn't have more than 50,000 bees. Only 100 pounds of honey in the hive.

I can see this unfolding. Someone hears "80,000 bees" and then in the excitement writes down "800,000 bees" and then the one in front of the camera simply reads the script. These PPL rush around town reporting their stories quickly so they can do more stops. I have watched reporters give their stories on a number of occasions and this is what can happen. However it is possible that someone added the exaggeration for effect. They have insurance in case someone sues them for gross inaccuracies.

Years ago I flew some reporters for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to a small airport to report on a local happening. After they had gone around town trying to get PPL to talk to them (nobody would talk to them) they came back to the aircraft and sat around and wrote up a large load of BS about what might have happened and added some suspense to the whole thing but adding in some Batman type of "stayed tuned" nonsense so that they could sell the story to the "National News" because they had talked "The National" into letting them pay for the aircraft to report on the story.

That was the day I stopped watching the news. It is one big dog and pony show and it does not matter how much the news caster gets paid, it's all just BS. Brain bubblegum.

What's even funnier is that the airhead that reads the news is often given the mantle of being an 'intellectual hardworking giant walking amongst us' when really they just have a deeper voice or have a better makeup artist than the rest.

Two of the biggest anchors in the CBC, Pamela Wallin and Mike Duffy disgraced themselves with stealing from the public purse when they parlayed their public personages into a job as politicians and then they made their way into the biggest political payoff in our system, as Senators (Senators are appointed for life and make a huge salary plus mind boggling expenses for life, regardless of whether they do anything)

Nothing new.  Before quitting to go to law school, I was a copy editor for a San Antonio, Texas, newspaper.  I was also, because of a personal connection, something of a follower of Lyndon Johnson, even though I was a Republican.  I'd attend an event, listen to the President's speech, then go to work and edit the copy written by the reporter assigned to cover the story.  I'd frequently wonder if maybe we were at different events, because the story the reporter wrote was very different from what I had heard the President say.

Mike I like that so much that I stole it and put it on my signature.
If that is a problem, let me know and I will remove it.

It's not my quote... it's Mark Twain's.  Maybe you should ask him for permission... ;)
