Title: Hive beetle

I'm a new beekeeper in central illinois I started off this year with 2 packages of bees and I did 3 cut outs and hive beetles have been very bad this past year for me And I am now down to 1 hive wich was my weakes hive going into winter  but is now doing great I was wanting to know if anyone has used the cd case beetle traps with roach bait and what sucsess  they have had thanks

A lot of people do but the beetles will go into them and drag the poison right out into the hive. Not a good idea. The best control of SHB is a screen bottom board and an oil tray under it. Just make sure the bees do not have access to the oil tray.
