Title: Cold weather set back on Queen Rearing.
Post by: capt44 on February 22, 2015, 12:25:57 PM
The 1st part of February was warm with bees feeding and laying brood.
Then Wham here comes cold weather towards the end of February with ice and snow.
This is going to be a set back for queen rearing here in Central Arkansas.
The bees on warm days are dragging out dead larva and such.
Hope the weather turns around in March to the warm side.
As soon as I see Drones I'm going to start grafting.

Looking at the long range weather it is going to be cold or rainy until early April.  This spring could be a bummer for early build up.  I find that I get better queen mating by having the virgins emerge mid April.
