Greetings everyone.
I was recently asked by my boss (at my day job ) if I wanted to keep some hives at his vacation property. His property is in Allyn, WA on Grapeview Loop Rd. It is ~7 acres on North Bay with a 3200 sqft garden. He want the bees for pollination of his garden (most of it does not need bees... but that is a different story...) While I would love to do it I do not want to drive the hour plus each way and he is not interested in managing a hive. He asked me if I knew anyone in his area that kept and while a person did come to mind who lives nearby and was active on this forum, he has given up honey bees due to allergies and gave his hives away. So the offer is getting extended to anyone who would like a place to have a small outyard. He is not charging for the space nor does he want to pay someone to bring bees. He just wants bees on his property. If anyone is interested or know someone who is.... please pass them my way!
Thanks and bee well.
Unless he offers free stays at the cabin, you did the right thing. That drive is definitely not worth it for any less than 20 hives and a free weekend at the cabin a few times a year...
Thanks Michael, I was thinking the same thing... however there are also oysters out in the Bay that you can collect (at certain times of the year) that almost got me in my car.
