Title: Queen on top or bottom?

When doing a newspaper combine what is the best procedure....placing the box with the queen on top or on the bottom?

When I have done it, I put the queen on top. Haven't had it fail yet (4 times or so).   :cool:

Weelll, I always combined with the queenright on the bottom, the reason I was told that the odors from the bottom go upwards into the queenless box.

        Always put the queen you want to keep in the top box.The reason being is when the bees come down from the top they may ball the queen in the bottom box.(one direction to defend)The Bees on top will be able to defend the Queen easier if she's on top with them.(two directions to defend)The bees on the bottom will have to defend from the top and defend from the bottom from field bees coming back to the hive.
