I know it's late in the bee buying season, but anyone know of any person or place that has some Cardovan packages for sale, to ship?
I don't know if I've ever saw any Cordovan packages advertised?? Your best bet would be to get a package and requeen it with a Cordovan queen later in the summer when queens are pretty easy to get. I've used the Aurea queens from the Ohio Breeders Ass. and have been really happy with them. There's several people that raise Cordovan queens.
I've got a bunch of Cordovan queens but, the workers they lay turn out like regular looking Italian bees. Now most of the Drones they produce are really light colored. I don't completely understand all the genetics that goes into the coloration. I do like the Cordovan queens mainly because they are easy to find. No need to mark them they stick out like a sore thumb.
i bought some queens in griffin a couple of weeks ago and one happened to be cordovan when i went in and checked them.
