Title: HELP - First Nucs
Post by: AlamoBee on May 02, 2015, 09:55:52 PM
I picked up my first nucs today. Each was supposed to come with a frame feeder. As I went to install them in the hives, no feeders.  I have lots of syrup but no way to feed. Is there anything I can do?

Take some canning jars with lids and poke some SMALL holes in the lid.  finishing nail size.  About 5.  Put the jars over the hole in the inner cover if you are using an inner cover, or on the frame tops if not.  put an empty box over the top and cover the rest of the frame top with newspaper or something to keep them from coming up in the empty box.

If you have a good nectar flow right now, you shouldn't need to feed much.  Maybe someone from your area can tell you better about that.
