Thoughts? I mean, it is for now very costly - the shipping bites (or should I say stings) but if it could be made and purchased stateside?

The video I meant to post - but the first one is nice too.

It's been commented on quite a bit already.  http://www.beemaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=46340.0  Personally I'll wait a bit to better understand the pros/cons and get their production costs reasonable.  I can see getting one as a novelty for getting honey for house guests but the cost for outfitting my small number of production hives (25) would be over $12K which is ludicrous.

I did a search trying to see if there was a thread already and couldn't find it. I guess because there are so many that mention 'hive' and 'flow'.

Anyway - I agree the cost is prohibitive, for now. But the idea seems ingenious to me and I would love to have maybe just one.

No worries.  I agree it's quite ingenious.  It'll be interesting to see what the folks get them think once they've got a season or two under their belt.

How does New Zealand get a mention in this?

New Zealand, Tasmania, Australia.  Aren't they all islands somewhere?  We don't get much geography in our schools, see.  Even the post office people sometimes think New Mexico is a foreign country.

Well, for some reason, I thought these Aussies were KiWis. I don't know why I thought that - but I did.

Be very, very careful about voicing that misconception if you ever visit either country.

These are Kiwis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoYNoVNxfds

And they won't like it if you call them Australians.

Yeah, and I guess you must hate it when people mistake you for Canadians too.

And I was actually asked by a mainland tourist if I ever visit Australia.

Actually, we get along very well with Canadians.  My wife is descended from French and Scottish Canadians.

And my comment about Australia and New Zealand was meant in jest and intended to point out our own ignorance, for the most part.  Sorry if it offended.

Iowa, Ohio, Idaho, they're all the same state aren't they?  Just variations in spelling?

I have a friend in Adelaide who has explained how annoyed the Kiwis are to be confused with Aussies - but I don't recall if the reverse is also true. I know I have heard Canadians hate being mistaken for Americans, and that Americans often try to pass as Canadian when traveling to avoid "I hate America" rants.  Personally, I have had occasion to be somewhat amused when traveling, to have people look directly at my feet, to see if I'm wearing shoes, when learning I'm from KY. But as to my mistake here - I really thought I had seen something saying they were in New Zealand. I was surprised upon double checking to see I was mistaken.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  We all make mstakes and I hope nobody had their feelings hurt.  I don't think so.  My wife mentioned the other day that the next time we visit her sister in eastern Tennessee, she'd like to go to Hazard, Ky., as she's a big fan of Justified.  It crushed her when I told her we'd have to go to a small California town to see the Hazard from the TV series.

This clip is safe enough - A warning tho - Seven Periods with Mr Gorsmby is hilarious - You may enjoy watching the full program videos - but Gormsby is real, *real* un PC; and rated a good solid pg-13 - maybe even an R.
