Photo posted! My husband caught this swarm at a friends house, I was wondering if anyone knew what type bee this is?

Black queens are usually of Carniolan or Russian stock.  Carniolans can have a few brown or tan spots on the first three tergites of the abdomen.  Russians can be all black, a mix of black and brown stripes (usually called tiger striped) or they can be dark gold like the Italians.

I have no clue as to what type of bee it is.  But I have to say that it is a pretty picture.  Nice looking queen surrounded by her court with the eggs in the cells.  That's what everyone wants to see.  :happy:

just kidding, beautiful picture. Now I know what to look for concerning the Russians/carniolans breeds.
