Like said just getting started Ihave built a topbar hive but I am beeing told it is Little late in the year to bee gitting started I have seen there a few outher new members that are here in Jacksonville Florida also and a club? I guess I will have to get in touch with will be hang out trying to learn an bee ready net spring
Welcome to Beemaster! Get in the club - they might set you up with a late split.
Welcome to Beemaster.
Who told you it is too late to start. Don't tell the bees that. Here in Jacksonville it is definitely not to late to get started. Depending on the queen/bees, you might even get some honey. The closer you are to the intercoast the better.
I have removed swarms in October and November and had them make it. Not really the norm but depending on the weather they sometimes make it.
I removed a open air hive that had swarmed in January as I fist size ball and I was called in mid March, 2 years ago, to remove it. It was a great hive. It made a lot of honey for me until it absconded, between flows, this spring.
Time to get going.
Good luck.
Jim
Welcome, Brumas! -Andy
Hi Brumas,
One key to beekeeping I always try to remember, bees are a wild insect that we as beekeepers can only help to survive. So its never to late to get started. You might be able to find someone locally thought a club that could get you started.
