Does anyone have a link to a good article or brochure outlining the health benefits of honey? I need to find something that is as complete as possible without sounding like it was written by a flower child with no care for any scientific basis. I will be talking about the health benefits of honey, among a few other topics, at a presentation for a local hospital. Thanks. -james wagner

I can't imagine any actual "health benefits" of honey. I think it is great and amazing stuff for a variety of reasons, and it has cleary good uses for burns and skin issues....but a health benefit from eating it? I don't buy it.
I know honey doesn't stop allergic reactions to hayfever
but in one hour they are gone

Look at articles by Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School. Those should be authoritative enough. i Googled "health benefits of honey" and found some.
And I know several unemployed people who buy lottery tickets to get rich.

 True or False? Placebos can have beneficial effects.
Sure placibos have effects... but if you are going to present those effects accurately and scientifically, you have to talk about it as a placebo... OT a miracle cure that happens to be a sugar pill.
Deknow,
My daughter came out to our farm a while back with a badly infected burn on her arm.
I told her to get a gauze pad put some of my honey on it and put it on that burn.
The next morning she came out of her room all excited. All of the infection was gone and it really looked good.
I use honey to stop sore throats and colds in their tracts. If I feel one coming on I immediately take a spoonful of honey and it goes away, I do have to do this for several days in a row. I have been doing it for years without getting sick. I keep a jar on my desk at work even to have it handy.
Recently after running out of my honey for the first time, I bought a gallon of honey from another beek.
The first time I used it on a sore throat I ended up with a full blown cold.
I called the guy I bought it from and asked about the honey. It turns out he also ran out and bought bought a barrel of honey from a honey processing plant and he heat treats it to 140 degrees to bottle it.
My wife is now using it to make blueberry preserves since you have to heat treat it anyway.

Yes, and I had a dime sized spot my doctor thought he should freeze or burn off, he thought a pre-cancer. I started treating the spot with honey on a small band-aide every night. Last visit, he said the site looked good and there was no talk of removing.
deknow, you are at odds with a whole lot of people including medical professionals. I have customer, a Neuroligist in Ca. that says everything from the hive is good for you. Also, I know 4 doctors that are now beekeeping.
You must only have experience with over heated or store shelf honey eh?
Try this web site. Benefits-of-honey.com
I have three doctors that use mine to treat for allergy problems. they even have recommended me to patients for purchases of honey. they stated that local filtered only honey assist in desensitizing people due to microscopic pollen particules suspended in it. and taking spoonful daily three weeks prior to pollen season reduces or eliminated most allergy problems. they must know more than most?

I know this thread is a little dated but I have to ditto what Jim said. I have two friends who are dead serious about not wanting, but having to have my honey. Both were making visits to the doctor and both ended up not needing to make those trips anymore. The great thing is - I gave them the first quart as a token of our friendship and that's when they found out this honey talk was for real. One of the two was having to get weekly shots, but not anymore.
