Just gone the middle of winter here and nearly 2 months since I have been into the hives - opened one yesterday and it was chock a block full - burr and bridging comb full of honey and in the two full depth honey supers all but two sides of frames fully capped. Pulled off 14 frames which will be close to 40 kg or 88 lb of honey - better check the other hive today.
Predictions are we will have a bumper spring flow
:cheesy:
Yea... winter here lasts 7 months and there is no "winter flow"...
OK wombat, how long is your ski season? Of course... You probably have a longer water ski season... I'll take my snow... Just give me winter hearty bees.
Our winter lasted 2 weeks so far - one was about a month ago the other we are experiencing at the moment. Night time temperatures have been done to 8*C (about 40F ) but day time have been a sunny 25*C. Interestingly my wife read in the paper the other day that our alpine region has more snow than Switzerland ! But it only lasts about 3 months. We get the cold when a southerly air flow brings that cold air up north from 1000 miles away.

When I lived in northern Canada we used to say that when we retired we would pack the snowblower in the back of the pickup and drive south, till someone asked us what it was and they stay there. ;)
Nice David! I'm officially jealous.
