Title: 8 frame vs 10 frame hives
Post by: kd4aju on July 10, 2015, 02:50:16 AM
I have 2 8 frame hives and have had success so far - 3 years with no issues.  Has anyone ever noticed a difference in success rate on 8 vs 10 frame hives?

Define success... Overwinter? Honey production? Success means different things to different people.

I think the difference is pretty negligible, but I think the eight frame mediums have slightly better overwintering due to the width of the hive fitting the cluster better and gap between the boxes providing better communication and movement in the cluster.
