Title: Bad day in the extracting room
Post by: Jacar on August 15, 2015, 01:18:42 AM
Bad day in the processing room. I pulled 6 med supers last Friday off 3 hives. Nice and full of honey. I have been in the process of building new processing room in new barn. Finally got it finished enough today, to get around to extracting tonight, and found 1 super full of SHB larvae and the another with wax moth.

The one with wax moth had just started damaging the very bottom of the frames. The SHB larvae were all over the other box.

Wasn't a total waste, the other 4 supers were packed with honey....This was the first time ever we had ever not processed the same day as pulling the boxes...I put the supers in the freezer. Any idea what to do with the honey?

Hose it off with water and take away from hive and see if bees will rob it out. But hive beetle may find it again?

I feed it to the pig, a cup or so a day over her food.

Could you not let them rob it out? (a question not a comment)

Put it on a hive, under the broodnest.
