Not too many areas can handle that much rain without serious flood damage.
About 8 years ago we had 8" in 2 hours after several days of rain. The dirt road behind my farm was a raging river for almost a full day.

Reminds me of Robert Service's poems from the Klondike gold rush days. Fun poetry. When I taught English (one year of my younger life), I used that kind of poetry to try to show my students not all poetry was musty. Needless to say, I was disciplined by the head of the department for using anapproved material.
