Do any of you use them ? If so,what has your experience been?
I am going to try a couple this year.
There's a guy 3 hours N of me that swears by them. That's all I really know. I really just wanna follow this thread. lol I've looked at the site but I'm using house wrap from my husband this year...for free. lol Curious about the cozys though.
I do know a beekeeper in southern New Hampshire. She tells me if she could afford it she would buy 50 of them or more. At the present time she has about 10 or 12 and like them a lot.
When you put beecozy on make sure the seam is in the front where the entrance is. If you have any questions about this visit their website.

I have spoken with several keeps that have used them.
If they are the black insulated wraps that I recall looking at, they sort of negate the purpose of wrapping in black. Most once thought that the bit of insulation they provide was helpful, except that the purpose of the BLACK wrap is for thermal gain on marginal days your bees would not have been able to move. The thermal gain allows them to do it. The cozies have insulation between the black and the hive...
they are not as cheap as tar paper, they are harder to store and keep the mice out of... if you have a few hives they may serve you well, if you have quite a few hives they become more of a pain than they are worth...
i do not use them after talking with the folks who have... but, i am also a cheap bugger that re uses tar paper, and I have fifty or so hives and growing... So they would not be practical unless i had dedicated storage space i could keep mice out of.
Used them, no problems with mice but I put pepper around the base of my hives (mostly for ants). My hives are in an old corn field so there are mice around. Just my 2 cents. -Mike
