Hi Guys: Well I did a check today and was surprised that the bees are honey bound! He is my 4 hives: Hive # 1 is a 2013 hive which I had 2 deeps and a super with drawn comb which I had extracted from them in July.Well they never did fill the super back but have jambed the second brood box full on honey.
Hive # 2 a swarm I caught in June 2015 the are in 2 brood boxes and all full of honey.I never added a super since they were slow filling the second brood box.Lots of bees and packed with stores.
Hive # 3 a 5 frame nuc I bought in August and them have lots of stores I had transfer ed them to a 10 frame deep box however they still have not filled all the frames.
HIve # 4 about the same it was a cut out I did and weak for a while and they still have not filled all the frames but have lots of honey stored.
Some much honey in the hives I couldn't remove the frames with doing a lot of damage to the combs in the frames. i HAVE BEEN FEEDING THEM ALL THIS YEAR TRYING TO BUILD THEM UP AND LOOKS LIKE i HAVE A LOT OF BEES IN EACH ONE.To late to add supers and I guess best just to stop the syrup and put on the candy and hope for the best till spring.
I have a few hives built as i AM GOING TO DO SOME SPLITS IF THEY ALL MAKE IT THRU THE WINTER
Congrads! I'm surprised at the honey in my hives as well. I would make sure they have room before spring. I'm not sure if a honey bound hive is detrimental to them keeping warm this winter. Maybe some beeks with this experience can help out.
