Title: something new every day.....
Post by: KeyLargoBees on June 06, 2016, 09:54:02 PM
It seems I have marathon runner of a queen in one of my larger hives.....I dont run excluders typically but I may have to with this little tart.....double deep and then three mediums....went in to harvest today thinking I had time and that little minx has laid a hand sized section of brood on 7 of 10 frames....in every freaking box.

Decided to try and find her ....bad idea.....The weather went to crap (thank you collin) as I was trying to find and exclude her and they got mean on me so I buttoned things up in a hurry as it started to storm but I need to find her and banish her to the bottom two boxes and drop an excluder on this hive.

Has anyone else had this happen.....some into the third box I can understand....but up to the top in a 5 box stack is unheard of? ....its a first for me.

Some of mine were like that. Not much but enough to make you stop. The first time I pulled this year when I was uncapping my frames I found a queen on one.

I have a couple that will lay right up through every box I put on. I'm not sure how many they'll do but I stooped at 5

Most of the time when I am pulling honey, I find either some brood or a brood size area with un capped honey. You can tell that during the flow it was a brood area. As the flow slowed down the bees back filled it.
