Dr Oz and Daymon John (Shark Tank) both have bees.
They were on Oz's show about the health benifits of honey.
Let's start another list of famous people who now keep bees.

Ok. I heard Flea from the Chili Peppers and Morgan Freeman keep bees. Or, they just have a lot of money and someone else keeps them for them? Not sure. lol

Did Peter Fonda keep bees or just play a beekeeper in "Ulee's Gold"?

Thank you! Saguaro Cactus, oh and bees
>You left off Michael Bush.
I'm not a famous person who is a beekeeper. Ask anyone on the street who I am and none of them will know me. Maybe if you ask a beekeeper they may have heard of me...

Those cacti are incredible! We took our camper down to AZ once and pulled over to sleep amongst them. It rained over night and that super earthy smell was one of the best smells I've ever experienced. Isn't there moisture in them though? The bees don't mind that? They build colonies in them? Is that common?

After birds bore into them the raw area heals over even when the center becomes hollow and many critters use them. Once enough damage is done though the cactus will fall and likely die. I have only seen a few hives in cactus here, most are in caves and rock crevasses
Daymon John - Shark Tank
They just played the re-run on the fake HONEE the other night. Apple syrup called honee. Wonder what people probably think they are buying? And the pitch was to save the bees. And after John's made some of the comments he made in the segment... well I am not too sure  But I guess I also THINK I am a beekeeper
bwallace,
Interesting link.
This is an interesting thread also- I'll be looking forward to further posts
Michele Ohbama
Are you trying to make me quit beekeeping?
Oh Lawd! I have to unfollow this thread now. Imma gonna puke.
Yep :cheesy:
Michele Ohbama
YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone report him to the moderator!
(lol)
Michelle hired someone to do her beekeeping. Does that count?
Isn't that what brother Adam did except he didn't pay anyone?
These two already mentioned but a little info...
George Washington (1732 ? 1799)
Washington That?s right! Our first president was a beekeeper. Before the days where politics was a career choice, most men and women who served our country were professionals in something else. George Washington always stated that he was first and foremost a progressive farmer. In fact, Mount Vernon (Washington?s Home) was a destination for those seeking to learn the latest agricultural techniques.
Some historians think that Washington kept ?Log-gum? style hives which were common at this time. However, records at Mount Vernon indicate that Washington might have also been a leader in beekeeping as well as agriculture and was already using wooden box hives to produce honey and keep bees to pollinate his crops. Washington loved eating honey as well. His favorite breakfast was corn pancakes (referred to as ?hoecakes?) slathered in honey.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 ? 1826)
Jefferson who was our third president was man of wide and varied interests. He was a farmer, a reader, an agrarian, a musician, a lawyer and also noted as a beekeeper. In fact, drawings made by Jefferson of his Monticello estate depict bee houses on both the north and south of his property. What?s more, Mr. Jefferson also recorded some historical observations about bees in Notes on the State of Virginia.
The honey-bee is not a native of our continent. Marcgrave indeed mentions a species of honey-bee in Brazil. But this has no sting, and is therefore different from the one we have, which resembles perfectly that of Europe. The Indians concur with us in the tradition that it was brought from Europe? The Indians therefore call them the white man?s fly.
Granted that Wahington and Jefferson, among other Founders, had bees on their property, but is it not pushing it to say they were beekeepers? Washington also had a whiskey distillery on his farm, but I doubt that he tended the fires of the still. That's the kind of thing he had slaves for, don't you think? And Michelle? I can't imagine her putting on a veil and bee suit, then operating a honey extractor.

I just googled like most did. your complaint should be with the internet  No way there could be a mistake there
Oh, yeah! The infallible internet. Is this what we have devolved to?

Honey was extracted.
Jefferson, I'm sure, delegated the heavy lifting, but he was always involved in what was going on and in watching nature.
I'm surprised you missed Roseanne Barr.
BEE HAPPY Jim 134
