Title: LATE SWARM
Post by: Blacksheep on September 01, 2016, 12:59:54 PM
Hi Guys: Well I thought swarm season was well gone but I know on different time they swarm such as hive destroyed or beetles take over the hive.
Last evening I had a call from a land owner who had a swarm earlier wHich I CUT OUT SEVERAL WEEKS GO!He said, say that trap you hung on the side of the barn has a swarm in it! So guess I will be busy tomorrow getting the late swarm in a hive!

Unless it is very large, I would leave it in a nuc for winter.

:cool:You'll get some late season swarms for several reasons. To small cavity in wild hive. SHB. And others. You probly getting ready for fall flow. So there is still time for them to grow. I have had several calls before about late season swarms. Have fun. I use double nuc traps for fall catches. Good luck.

My two hives have yet to swarm at all but I have been adding boxes.
