Title: cottonseed meal for winter protien supplement

Has there ever been any research on using cotton seed meal for protein supplement for bees?  The analysis is in the ballpark but does it work?

I have talked some beekeepers about cottonseed meal and they had never thought about this.  One beek asked me why I thought about using CSM as bee feed.  When I was much younger I had cattle and fed CSM mixed with minerals and salt.  The bees flocked to that cattle supplement.  I kept looking on the internet and found an article from Jan 1917 in the Minnesota Bee culture periodical That is very interesting, some cattlemen did not like the bees from a neighbor Beek and they poisoned the bees.  There is some very interesting and enlightening articles of how we "usta" do it.
