Title: Why Carniolen bee prefer nectar to pollen and italians prefer pollen more than honey
Post by: Vicken on November 11, 2016, 12:19:09 PM
I have a carniolen and italian mixed bees hive I've noticed that black bees come from forage with big belly and italians come with pollen in dominant percentages for both

I can't say; I haven't noticed a specific trend.  My mutts bring in whatever they need and can get.

Is there a reason you keep posting in a 2010 forum?

I have both kind of hives Carniolens and italians italians like to gather lot of pollen while carniolen rather prefer honey,  sorry about the posting in the 2010 forum I couldn't find the 2017 I'm on a cellphone
I even have mixed bee hives, the black bees gather honey while the yellow gather pollen

Italians tend to be "brood rearing fools" and that requires a lot of pollen.
