Title: AHB and sugar feeding
Post by: Johnny on November 24, 2016, 07:25:43 PM
I have 2 questions.
Do AHB prefer holes in the ground more than European Honeybees?
Why do you heat sugar and water when you are making dry sugar patties
why not just pour sugar in a container and add water so all sugar gets wet.
Am I missing something. Thanks

The first answer is yes. AHB especially like water meter boxes.
Who says that you have to heat it?
If you are just adding sugar, you just wet it enough to make it stick together. If you want a smooth, solid patty, you heat it.

I don't heat the water/sugar when I make my sugar bricks.   Mix it all in the Big Mixer, then pat it into bricks and leave them to dry.
