Title: cleaning up a bee vac that had pesticides in it
Post by: Sebashtion H. on December 07, 2016, 02:45:02 AM
is there a way to clean out a bee vac that I extracted a hive that was sprayed with pesticides?
its was told to me no one sprayed the hive but halfway thru extraction found a fogger buried in the hive.
now they say was sprayed within the last 3 months....

its a plywood bee vac

How strong was the hive? If it was in good shape, I would not worry about it. I think those foggers break down pretty quickly. They are designed for use in the house. Read the label.
Take a hose to the bee vac and a rinse it out.

I use a pretty nasty dialectical wasp spray on the job and the claim on the can is 90 day residual effect, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It wasn't like you were grinding up the comb and mushing it into the plywood. I agree, wash or soak the hose and call it a day.

On the farm when we change chemicals in a spray
tank we use ammonia to clean the tank.
