Last year I started with 2 three pound package Bee's both with Italian Bee's, next to each other. I lost one weak hive to wax moths. The other produced 1 frame of honey and is currently (fingers crossed!) making it through the Michigan winter. Both swarmed. The existing one survived by making Queen cells. The other didn't. I cleaned up the old hive and I want to start again in the Spring. Is it ok to start with a different type of bee next to my Italian hive? I was looking at the American Queen that is advertised as more compatible for my area. If the Italian is better, I'll go with that.
Thanks,

It makes no difference. Pretty much all mutts anyway. And I am sure you meant one super of honey and not one frame

sc-bee,
No, 1 single frame 2.5 cups! I didn't want to take anymore because I wanted them to have some food since there wasn't much in there. Ya, it was a bad year for me and my new hobby. I think I'll try the American this time. They are more expensive for whatever reason.
Thanks,
