Just thought I'd introduce myself before I start bombing you guys with questions. Lol. Because they r coming. I've been seriously considering bees for a few years now. And this year I'm taking the steps to start my bee keeping adventure. When I do something I like to know what I'm doing, be prepared, and do it right ... especially with such important little lives are at stake . I live in a very small outdated town. We have a local bee supply store but the fella that runs it... I had a sour personal experience with resulting with an inability to maintain friendship... so I'm gana be much more dependent on seeking answers on my own. And boy to I have questions 😃 I'm half way through bee keeping for dummies and have been researching equipment and companies so I'm doing the leg work. But I'm a hands on when it comes to learning and I need the advise of real people and to read experiences from real people who know $^* they are doing lol and to point me in the right direction.
bees are important nature is important... after watching numerous veggies in my garden fail to fruit last year I decided it was time to take that step. Plus I think I can actually afford the start up cost this year. My main goal here is to have happy healthy bees. I want to be as natural as possible . Of course I love honey but it's just a perk to having sweet little life sustaining pollinators in my yard. so I may ask a lot of silly questions
Welcome what part of upstate
Put it in your profile so you don't keep getting asked
Welcome, Simon. Are you referring to New York or where?
Welcome to Beemaster. This is the place to ask questions, as many as you want.
I recommend that you check out Mann Lake. That is where I get most of my equipment from. Just received an order from them last week.
Unless you are a body builder, I recommend you get all medium boxes. If I was starting over, I would have all 8 frame medium hives.
