Title: Best Bee Suit
Post by: bwallace23350 on March 01, 2017, 06:28:45 AM
Got someone who is going to help me some this year as they want to get into bee keeping but want to see what it is like first. Money is not an issue for them really so what is the suite you would recommend to them. I have an ultra breeze. I just wanted a ventilated suit and it had good reviews online. We live in the deep south so of course anything I recommend will be ventilated because of the heat. What do yall recommend?

I have the ultra breeze suit, and it is a fine, well made suit.  It is also about twice the price as the beezneeds suit that Iddee suggested.  I would have bought Iddee's suggestion had I known it was available last year.

I work bees in 100? F temps in the summer, so ventilated is a necessity.

True and that is what led me to get the Ultra Breeze but I am trying to do due diligence for my friend and to just make sure that I recommend the best suit.

Us also. The actual temp might not be 100 but the heat index sure is.

My favorite is an Ultra Breeze jacket.  Next would be an Ultra Breeze suit...

I have a ultra breeze type suit that i ordered from Mann Lake about 4 years ago. I like it a lot for when I need  protection. I bought my wife one last year and she really likes it.

I have never been stung through it.
I cannot say that about the single cloth types. If they are up against your skin the bees can easily sting through one layer.

So far except for a $10 smock my daughter bought me, I am using homemade suits.  I mostly use the smock but have just put a long sleeve white shirt on and a viel I made with window screen sewed to a fishing hat.  My uncle just gave me a box of 24 super extra large white kinda paper coveralls.  I just today sewed the legs closed and put some stretchy stuff around the sleeves and a small pocket on four of them.  I am just going to wear them with my shoes inside the sewn legs untill they wear through.  I bet they are hot but they are so lose, I can't see how a bee could get to me if I was naked.

I can not seem to keep mice from my stuff I keep in the garage and so I am afraid to buy anything expensive and so I just keep making things that get me by.  Cheep though.  He also gave me two boxes of hospital gloves, the thin ones.  One box of the blue and one of the clear.  I have been using some good soft leather with sleaves sewn on that I made.

Man I am a cheep bas.....rd.
Cheers

Saw......
I must not get out much.  I had to look up clark howard to know what you were talking about .

I know ultranreeze must be worth the price for some reason cause it sure has one heck of a following of bee keepers.  Maby some day when I sell some honey and buy a mouse proof metal cabnet if there is such a thing.

I had thought that maby it was also the very last suit that was supposed to still be made in america.
Cheers
