Title: Should I do another OAV treatment?
Post by: Oneamateur on February 08, 2018, 08:17:23 AM
I did 3 OAV treatment from the middle of Dec. to the 1st weeks of Jan. every 7 days. Yesterday, I saw one bee with deformed wings walking out of the hive. Should I treat my hive again? I don't have time to open the hive during the day time to do the mite count. It's too cold to do it in the evening. Thanks for your help.

It will not hurt your bees to treat again and might hurt them (allow mites to increase) by not treating.

The treatment is quite simple to follow, even though it requires a lot of patience and energy. The initial 3 treatments showed similar outcomes. Oxalic acid treatment via sublimation demands the beekeeper to purchase or borrow an applicator.

Like said do not hurt and try again.
