found ants crawling around the hive entrance and one had a larve.  what to do?

They are raiding your hive.  Unlike some other types of insects ants consider larva a delicacy.  
Lets hope they're not fire ants.
Put out some ant traps close to the hive stand, like mice ants wouldn't go back to a bad food source and the traps won't bother the bees.

after posting my question i did a search on ants here on the sight and seen someone suggested cinnimon.  i just put some at the entrance and around the hives.  yes i'm sure there fire ants.

pd, you can try using a product called Amdro on the fire ants. It is a bait which the ants will transfer throughout their colony. Usually with fireants you will have more than one mound, so look for the second one and treat it too. Amdro can be purchased at Home Depot and perhaps Walmart and even some groceries. Good luck!

it was a bee larva.  have'nt seen any more ants since the cinnamon application.
