Been noticing a lot of wild mustard blooming in the area. There are some fields just down the road that are completely yellow with wild mustard blooms. Being a compulsive beekeeper I am wondering if mustard would give a honey crop and what would it taste like. Has anyone tried to harvest a crop of wild mustard and if so what did it taste like?
A local beekeeper in my area had wild mustard and I have to admit the honey tasted weird and mustard like. If there is an abundant source, the bees should make a decent amount of honey. Maybe leave that honey for the bees over winter. I?m just a beginner. :)

Early in the season in Oz it starts breeding and grows young bees. Lots of time it is the earliest bee feed if you don't have Capeweed, type of flat daisy.
If you don't have anything better to go to then worry about the honey if they collect some.
Over here there are many open fields with 100 of acres. Some have wild daikon growing all over providing plenty of
nectar in the early Spring. And of course, some have the wild mustard growing too. Acres and acres of them blooming at the
same time providing the only early pollen source more than nectar. There is a local creek that I'm consider sowing
some of these wild mustard seeds along the banks. This will provide some mid-summer pollen and nectar through the dearth. Along the
banks on the soil line there are no golden rods either. I'm sure they will grow nicely along the side of the creek.
