Title: Using brass valves

 Is it safe if  I usa brass valves on my buckets.

The problem with any metal valve and some plastic valves is the possibility of a none food grade lubricant being used on the mechanical parts of the valve.  Brass in itself is OK.

Stainless with teflon seals is almost required to be food grade.  I don't know the answer with brass.  I would tend not to use it but I think people pump syrup and honey with brass pumps.

There other things to consider, is every thing approved for food use, materials used that may contact the product, ease of a through cleaning, is the valve completely open and closed or is it used for throttling flow, pH of material, etc.  In short use honey valves, they will last for most of us many years.
