Title: Moses Quinby on bee losses
Post by: Michael Bush on March 21, 2019, 11:49:24 AM
On one of our visits when he (Moses Quinby) had nearly 1000 colonies, he said, with half-comical expression "What would I do if all should die in the winter?" and then, the comical look giving way to one of determination, he said, "I would buy some more, and with so many hives full of empty comb I would show you how soon I would fill them up again"--A.I. Root, The ABC of Bee Culture 1890 edition pg 327

Love it!  That demonstrates the true resilience and passion of the beekeeper.

I now feel the same way that Moses did but when it first happened to me, I did not think I would bother because it was so devistating.
