Title: Lost a hive
Post by: Jbyrd485 on April 21, 2019, 04:41:37 PM
Hey y?all about 2 weeks ago I caught a swarm. Today I found that they left but there are 2 frames of brood and honey. Will they hatch out and let me put a queen cell with them or should I put those frames in another box?

Either put it in another hive or add a lot of bees and brood and a queen to create a new hive.

Depends on how cold your nights were after bees left. I would give them to another hive to keep them warm or  they will clean out the dead brood.

Seems every abandonment brood comb I?ve had was dead larvae spilling out followed by maggots

I believe I?ll add it to another box. Thank y?all for your help.

The maggots are SHB larvae.

Today I found that they left but there are 2 frames of brood and honey.

That seems odd to me.  I would want to know if the brood is healthy before I did any combination or added resources.

Thats seems like good advise to me. I'd be checking some brood before adding them elsewhere.
