Title: Removing dead bees from cells
Post by: Aroc on April 22, 2019, 01:19:56 AM
We have a few frames from a couple hives with dead bees in the cells.  Face first.  When we removed the frames we were able to tap on them a bit to remove some.  The frames are fine but with dead bees in them.

Short of sitting in front of the TV with a set of tweezers pulling a few hundred dead bees out of cells; what?s the best way to remove them. Will bees remove them if we put them in another hive?  I?d really hate to do that.  Seems kind of morbid.

The bees will clean them out. I would spread them out between a few of your stronger hives that need the comb. In the south we have fire ant mounds. I have put comb with hive beetle larvae in ant pile and they cleaned them up in an hour or so. A lite rinse and in the freezer over night and good to go.

Like Ed said, let the bees clean them out.
