Title: Pollen in supers-can I make pollen patties?
Post by: opster246 on August 06, 2019, 08:11:43 PM
I had 4 frames from a honey super with old pollen in the comb. I spun off the honey and scrapped the old, dark wax off to let them start over. Can I make pollen patties by melting the wax with pollen and residual honey and form it for nto patties?  Is there any other use for this dark wax with pollen in it?

No.
When you melt the wax the temperature will destroy the nutritional value of the pollens and honey.
The use is as compost / fertilizer.

Why melt it?  Just smash it into patties and freeze it.

Why scrape the dark wax off, put it back, making work for the bees and they will use the pollen when needed.
