Dadant sells the crimped-edge metal top for $10 in-store, but I don't see it on their website.  Maybe it you can call?  It's slightly telescoping but not a huge overhang.  It goes over woodware you build yourself.

I bought a 20 inch x 50 foot roll of aluminium flashing. I got it at Lowes. It bends easily. I cut it to size and clamped it between 2 1x4 boards to form my bends.

Lowe's sells a 24 in. flashing. You only have to cut it to width. Ask them to order it if not in stock. A saw kerf, slightly angled, in a 2X4 makes a good bender.

For wider metal flashing, try a roofing company.

I cut my kerf at 45 degrees, about a 3/4 inch blade length.  Score the sheet with a razor knife and bend, Tin snips to cut corners.  Staples to attach the top, use more than a few.
Watch out for sharp edges.

I did look in roofing.  I forget the exact size they had but it was 12 inch I think.  Nothing big enough. I'll look again though because I go to lowes several times a week for work.

I did ASK...right after i looked.....the guy said that what was over there was all they had. I go to lowes for building materials for work...maybe when I go in there with a little more time on my hands I'll do some more digging and ASK someone else.

I don't know if Lowes carries it in the store.  According to there web site, I would have to order it from my local store.  They only carry it in 10" wide in the store.  I don't shop Lowes much anymore.  I usually go to Menard's.  They have 24" wide x 50' in stock.
