An incorrect drug test put a poor in jail for 3 months. He was interning the USA from Jamaica carrying 3 jars of honey, pure honey that somehow tested INCORRECTLY positive for methamphetamine. The fella was jailed and could not make bail. A second more accurate test was conducted 3 months later and the fella was released,,, after losing his job, and destroyed his credit.
What went wrong: MY GUESS! Bee propolis contains plant phenols, some cheap drug test look for presence of phenols. Phenols are the back bone of most illegal drugs. I am guessing the honey was slightly contaminated with these phenols and thus the honey was incorrectly positive tested. When specific test were conducted 3 months later the fact was proven the jars only contained pure honey.

Van - that is rough.
A few years ago a guy had a gatorade bottle full of honey and it tested as explosives and they shut down the airport... eventually they figured out it was just honey... Honey is a complex thing and seems to test positive for many things...
One air trip and I knew it would happen as soon as we checked a bag- yuup TSA label and tape when we landed! Who knows what finder went though there!! Cbd oil is testing for real marijuana and DNA Isn?t perfect yet. You can sure get your life up
A little bit off subject so I will be short: traveling from Mexico to USA. TSA agents went through travel bags behind closed doors: open a jar of wife?s facial cream and did not replace the lid. Yep, created a mess when we open the luggage. Glad it was not honey.
I had never given honey a second thought until I read the above CNN article but I imagine honey would be easy to dilute THINGS in. So don?t travel across country with honey.

If you put an illegal substance in honey wouldn't it be hard to extract it?

Thats a good question Ace.
>If you put an illegal substance in honey wouldn't it be hard to extract it?
Wouldn't you just eat it?

I have never heard of such. Is this something they are doing now?
Well...the sad part is someone probably will try transporting meth or the other kind of coke, through honey. I don't think its real, but if they will try to make people carry balloons in their stomach then they are nuts enough for anything.
But to be fair, there are a lot of people that cheat in life. And it seems like most of them like to work for the government.
Hope it works out for parties involved above.
I just knew I feel more energy after eating a bit of honey!

It's worse than that. They tested it after 20 days and it was negative and they still kept him in a detention facility for another 2+ months.
