Title: Grapefruit/creosote (?juniper) smoking for varroa?
Post by: maggie_lee on July 27, 2020, 02:08:25 PM
Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has thoughts/experience with using grapefruit leaves or creosote twigs as smoker fuel to kill varroa.

This USDA article goes around on some boards: https://agresearchmag.ars.usda.gov/1997/aug/mitesmoke

Top bar beekeeper Les Crowder talks about using creosote twigs down in the southwest where he is.

Just googling around, I've seen some people say they also use juniper as smoker fuel to kill varroa.
