I've had ABJ and just bought Bee Culture. The letter seems to be better.

IF you HAD to choose between them you should realize what makes them different.  BeeCulture, in my opinion, is based more on the technical side of beekeeping while ABJ provides information on "how-to" as well as a "classroom" section.  BeeCulture, however, has instead of a classroom section, a "quiz" which tests beekeeping knowlege. They both have will step into each boundry and will have information on honeyprices divided amoung the U.S (BeeCulture's is more informative given it has smaller regions)  Both also have sections that deal with flora that grows in certain climates (BeeCulture includes a recipies to go with the flora i.e. Honey and Peas)  Neither are very expensive and both are a must for every "well-informed" beekeeper.

I refuse to choose.  By getting both maginzes one has a better chance of staying up with the times--which I have been too far behind for too long.

APIS629
thats the kind of info I was looking for. every magazine is targeted at a little different audience.  My problem is, I'm an addictive reader. Once I sit down to read I can't stop until I'm done. It doesn't matter if its a magazine or a 700 page novel, I read start to finish, and in my business I have to work 16 hour days 6 days a week from about May thru October, so I have to keep control of how much reading material piles up, or I risk impacting my workdays. My wife won't even ask me to go to the store with her because I read labels on anything that catches my eye, and it slows her down. Well thats a whole lot of verbage to say that I gotta pick just one for now, and I want to see which one would suit me best.

Sounds like the type of learning disorder more people should have--my grandchildren for instance.

Sadly to subscribe to Bee Culture from here in Canada it's $38 US. AJB is even more. Does it really cost that much extra to send a little further?

That's the way I usually am.  I just finished the 3rd of the "Ender quartet-Xenocide (510 pages) last week after reading for 3 days.  Luckaly, I can usually finish the bee mags in under 2 hours. (I never really timed myself...)

I get my mags second hand from other bkprs.  I am also trying to connive the local library into subscribing.
