Title: Comb so fat bees stuck!
Post by: KONASDAD on June 12, 2006, 05:26:10 PM
I was out of country for two weeks. Upon my return it rained for a week. Anxious to get into hive and inspect. Bees were hanging on one side of entrance and it was relatively cool(65F). I have two deeps. The bottom deep has two frames that are so thick w/ honey and pollen there no room between the frames anymore. These two frames are the outside two, and the rest are very tight as well, w/ brace comb between frames, and  burr comb attached to frames above etc. I added the second deep May 12 and 80% filled already. Added my first super as well as a SBB and hive back to normal so far. But wall frame weighed aproximately 9lbs and one next to it almost as much. Aproximately 3-4 inches thick and bottom deep is very congested

Also found out from place where i purchased bees that I have the Minnesota Hygenics

Sounds like you have very productive bees witha perpensity towards filling every available space with comb, a not undesireable trait regardless of how frustrating it can be.
