For those who are using just medium boxes, are your nucs medium also?

Works like a charm.  But at those prices I suggest making your own or buying deeps from Mann Lake Ltd and cutting them down.  You'd be surprised what uses you can put the left over 3 inch to.

Yes.

No.

I buy some from Brushy Mt, but I just buy the boxes and make my own bottoms and tops.  I make a migratory top.  Actually I make a top with a top entrance.  I also make four, three and two frame nucs.  An eight frame box (my standard box for my hives) is exactly the same size as a five frame deep nuc.
